Good Morning America

I started at "Good Morning America" the day before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Before the attack, the show had been mostly an entertainment program. But this catastrophic event changed everything. Every night I monitored the overnight news, deployed troops and briefed the Executive Producer and the anchors when they woke up. As the US retaliated and attacked Iraq, overnight coverage became vital. We were the lifeline of the show. Eventually, I moved to the mornings where I briefed the anchors, greeted the guests in the green room and worked side by side with the Executive Producer in the control room.

The Trials and Tribulations

I became the main booking producer on the Kobe Bryant trial, spending weeks covering the case in Eagle, CO. I secured the only big interview to come out of the case with the star witness. I was also the main booking producer on the Natalee Holloway story in Aruba. I secured the first interview with the prime suspect in that case – Joran van der Sloot and multiple interviews with Natalee Holloway’s mother, Joran’s mother, and lawyers on both sides. I was also in charge of all editorial reporting, breaking multiple scoops. In addition, I ran a camera outside of the courthouse on many days and was always able to get the best video of the suspects entering and exiting thanks to my great sourcing.

Booking, Reporting and Producing in the Field

In my time at “Good Morning America” I also traveled to the Michael Jackson trial, convincing six jurors to fly from California to New York for an exclusive interview. I visited the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, putting together a town hall outside of the Astrodome, and covered other hurricanes live on location. Additionally, I covered the 2008 Democratic National Convention on the floor with Diane Sawyer.
